BRANDON WOELFEL

Brandon Woelfel, born on August 17, 1994, is an American social media influencer and photographer. More specifically, Woelfel is a freelance portrait photographer based off Long Island, New York. He began his career around 2011, and has been a professional photographer for roughly 6 years now. He attended The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and graduated in the year 2016 with a bachelor’s in Computer Art. During Woelfel’s sophomore year of college was where Woelfel truly became invested in photography and where he got his first DSL at the prime age of 19. 

 

Woelfel’s primary medium to post all his pictures are on Instagram (@brandonwoelfel), and as of today he has over 3 million followers. His work first became popular due to working with a lot of other famous YouTubers and having them post his content. Overtime he gained a following; people truly admired his editing and photography style as it gave off a dramatic aesthetic. Speaking of Instagram, it was the platform where Woelfel first found his passion for photography. Adding to that, he also posts YouTube tutorial videos of how he takes and edits his photos as well as montages of different photoshoots. To expand his range on social media, Woelfel has a website (www.brandonwoelfel.com) to share his portfolio with the world. Wanting to put all his work into hard copy, Woelfel came out with a book, Luminescence, which contains 218 pages of printed photography in vibrant colors.

 

Woelfel is known for this impeccable work of capturing images and editing them with his own twist. With all these photos, Woelfel uses the Nikon D750 or Nikon D850 and a variety of lens such as but not limited to, 50mm 1.4 Lens, 35mm 1.4 Lens, and 85mm 1.4 Lens. Throughout his photos, he would have the models pose with something usually in their hands. For example, there are photos of models holding flowers or fairy lights against their face to show have a more dramatic feel. Yet, Woelfel’s content is so much more than that. Being a portrait photographer, over the years, Woelfel became more involved with not only filming the person, but incorporated scenic surroundings as well. 

 

Woelfel’s vision for his work is the ability to use different lighting, which all started when he first used it in a Christmas photoshoot and never ended up taking away that factor. Woelfel was also able to make is work distinguishable through having his own niche of editing. He pushes himself to discover new tones and find new mediums to broaden his horizons. Having an artistic ability, Woelfel envisions a variety of different photos that he could make special with a Brandon Woelfel twist. 

 

Woelfel’s work includes a variety of hues and emotions. His work ranges from a warm to a blue tone, which is why he work fits perfectly into the Portrait Gallery. Throughout his photos, Woelfel captures the dramatic look that gives such a serene feel to it. Using his skill of lighting and working with different hues, Woelfel is able to capture the luminescent vibes from each photo. The Portrait Gallery focus specifically on portraits and having a set a theme of a nostalgic feel with hints of teal cool hue mixed with warm orange, which is what Woelfel’s work entails. However, Woelfel’s work, especially his final edits flow well with the rest of the artists in this gallery as all his work expresses a deep emotion capturing a nostalgic mood. All of Woelfel’s work really makes one look deeper into the photo as there is a lot of different applications that were applied to create the final product. From using the different camera and lenses to the different hues that he edits with, Woelfel’s work expresses sentimental emotions.
